LUCKY LUKE IN ST. LOUIS

Lucky Luke in "The Bridge over Mississippi", by Rene Gosciny and Morris, goes to St. Louis to help engineer James Eads build the first bridge over the Mississippi river. The double-decked Eads Bridge, north of the Arch and intersecting Laclede's Landing, still stands today, although exposed only to minimum traffic and the Metrolink.

Lucky Luke: "Tell me, friend, do you know where I can find James Eads?"
The Drunk: Mumbling something
The Drunk: "He's never far from the Mississip...hips."

Lucky Luke: "Hello, Senator Bridges."
The Senator: "Ah Lucky Luke... glad to see you. This is Mr. Fauner, my secretary. We have a problem."
BLAMMM!!!!
The Senator: "What did I tell you!"
The Senator: "And here is engineer Eads."
